MERGE, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization and it is our mission to help the youth and families of the Southeast U.S. merge on the path to lifelong success through higher education. We provide services that help prepare students, and their families, for life beyond high school.

MERGE provides college tours, care packages, and career planning through individual consultations, workshops, and mentoring.

Board Members

Dr. LaDessa Mitchell, Co-Founder

Dr. Mitchell is a writer, scholar, and serial volunteer who enjoys helping students and families navigate their academic and career options. She began serving as a youth mentor over 20 years ago while attending college in Tallahassee, Florida. She has worked with various age groups, programs, and populations throughout her tenure. Dr. Mitchell has an extensive history of working with nonprofit organizations and in various leadership capacities throughout Florida and Georgia.

Jeffrey Mitchell, Co-Founder

Jeffrey Mitchell is an educator and entrepreneur. Throughout his career, he has held a number of positions including teacher, college admissions recruiter, curriculum coordinator, IT Director, basketball coach, assistant principal, principal, and pastor (to name a few). He worked as an admissions representative for a preeminent state university and has helped many students navigate their educational journey.

Kat Herisse, Board Member

Kat Herisse is a trailblazing professional with a unique blend of expertise in the field of information technology and a strong foundation in journalism. Armed with a Master's degree in Cybersecurity: Information Assurance and a Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia Journalism, Kat has navigated the convergence of technology and communication with exceptional skill.

Kat serves on the Board of Directors for MERGE, Inc. dedicated to assisting the youth and providing students tools needed to plan for success.

Each have achieved many accolades in their careers and community. Together, in 2009, the Mitchells established MERGE Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides college tours, care packages, and career planning for youth and families. The  goal remains the same: we aim to help youth and their families to make informed decisions about their education and career.
