About Murika Davis
Murika Davis is a passionate professional igniting change, and provoking hope and inspiration. A senior level Civil Engineer with the Jacksonville District US Army Corps of Engineers where she’s garnered 30 years of experience as a civil site designer, planner and construction engineer for billion-dollar projects in Florida, Puerto Rico, and the USVI gives credence to her commitment and tenacity. Her work extends into areas ranging from community program leadership, technical project management for public infrastructure enhancement, disaster recovery, to business consulting for small businesses and civic organizations. She has helped organizations achieve objectives from improving early literacy rates in elementary schools to promoting Science Engineering Technology and Math (STEM) among students, as well as awarding scholarships.
Ms. Davis, an Atlanta Public Schools honors graduate of Frederick Douglass High School, obtained her Baccalaureate Degree in Civil Engineering from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). She also holds a Master's and PhD in Theology. She recently obtained her Master's of Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Construction Management. Davis is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers, Society for Women Engineers, Professional extension of the National Society of Black Engineers, the Junior League of Jacksonville, FAMU National Alumni Association, and Toastmasters International. While contributing to her community, her greatest joy comes from molding her daughter and protégé, Skylar a budding violinist, collegiate volleyball player, and future doctor. Ms. Davis notes, “My mother, while my sister and I were in high school, returned to college and successfully completed her nursing degree. I want my daughter to know that anything is possible if you believe, work, and sacrifice. Knowledge when obtained can never be taken away from you, only enhanced.”
Ms. Davis has received numerous awards for her professional and community work but her true passion is helping others succeed. Making lives better one day at a time is her motto, for she believes “to whom much is given, much is required”. Always ascribe for greatness, you were born to be great!
“Post-secondary education has afforded me a wealth of knowledge and tools in the pursuit of my dreams - building bridges within underserved communities in STEM and public ecosystem restoration. It has opened doors to new challenges and provided confidence to bring innovation in boardrooms and the field. Be the light…” - Murika Davis
